- Helios Towers entered South Africa in 2019 through a partnership with Vulatel (Pty), creating the infrastructure platform Helios Towers South Africa ("HTSA").
- On 30 April 2019 HTSA completed the acquisition of SA Towers. The acquired business contains a pipeline of c.500 site locations.
- Favourable structural dynamics in South Africa, with c.30,000 towers in the country and only c.10% owned and operated by independent tower companies.
- As a leader in telecommunications innovation in Africa, South Africa also provides the opportunity to develop expertise in adjacent technologies, such as fibre and edge data centres.
