Chief Executive Officer
Kash Pandya joined Helios Towers in August 2015 having previously been a board director with Aggreko plc, the world’s largest temporary power generation company, for eight years. This included five years as Managing Director, overseeing a doubling of its international business. Kash has worked for various engineering and manufacturing companies including Jaguar, General Electric Company, Ford Motor Company and Novar plc (then Caradon plc). In 1999, he joined APW Ltd., a global manufacturing services company, to lead all operations outside the US. In 2004, he became the CEO of Johnston Group, a publicly quoted company, leaving the business on its sale to Ennstone plc. Kash began his career through an engineering apprenticeship and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Technology Engineering and a Master’s degree in Manufacturing.
Chief Operating Officer
Tom Greenwood joined the Group in 2010. He was made Finance Director in 2012 before taking on the role of Chief Financial Ofﬁcer in September 2015. In July 2020, Tom was made Chief Operating Officer, a newly created role reflecting the ambitions of the Company to continue driving strong growth.
Tom joined the Group from PwC’s TMT Transaction Services team, where he focused on M&A and reﬁnancings, mainly in the telecommunications sector. He is a qualiﬁed Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
Chief Financial Officer
Manjit Dhillon was appointed as CFO in January 2021, having previously served as Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Finance since October 2019. Prior to joining Helios Towers, Manjit held a number of positions in the financial services sector including at Goldman Sachs, Deloitte and Lyceum Capital. He is a qualiﬁed Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
CEO Central & West Africa
Marlene Kiniffo-Zounon has held a Regional CEO position with Helios Towers since August 2020, having previously joined the business as COO of Helios Towers DRC. Marlene’s role currently covers the markets of DRC, Congo B and Senegal, and will also include Chad and Gabon, subject to the closing of the relevant transactions with Airtel Africa for these new markets. Ms Kiniffo-Zounon was previously employed in the roles of CCO and subsequently COO at LafargeHolcim in Nigeria. Prior to LafargeHolcim, Ms Kiniffo-Zounon worked at a range of multinationals including Renault-Nissan and Bosch, and also spent 5 years with Blackberry in West Africa, introducing BlackBerry solutions and services into 15 Sub Saharan African countries. Ms Kiniffo-Zounon holds a BA in International Business from Negocia Business School in France, an Intercultural diploma from Northeastern University in the United States, and an Executive Master in Business Administration (GM) from Harvard Business School in the United States.
CEO Middle East & East Africa
Philippe Loridon has held a Regional CEO position with Helios Towers since August 2020. His position covers the Tanzanian market, and will also incorporate Madagascar, Malawi and Oman, subject to the closing of the relevant transactions with Airtel Africa and Omantel for these new markets. Mr. Loridon previously held the position of CEO of Helios Towers Tanzania from January 2015, and the CEO of HT Congo and Helios Towers DRC from May 2019. Mr. Loridon was previously Chief Executive Officer of Helios Towers DRC between December 2011 and December 2014. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer at Equateur Telecom Congo, where he re-launched Equateur Telecom Congo in Congo Brazzaville. Prior to this, Mr. Loridon accumulated 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry with MNOs based in San Marino, Israel and Papua New Guinea. This included 13 years at Hutchison Whampoa, fulfilling senior roles in sales, marketing and business development before first becoming Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Sri Lanka in 1998, and then head of Hutchison Telecommunications’ Latin American operations between 2000 and 2002. He was also previously a Director at Be-Mobile.
CEO Southern Africa & Ghana
Sainesh Vallabh joined Helios Towers as CEO of Southern Africa in August 2020. Sainesh’s position now covers the markets of South Africa and Ghana in order to optimise the synergies of customer crossover between these markets. Previously, Sainesh was the Managing Executive of Mergers & Acquisitions for Vodacom Group Limited, where he was responsible for the development and execution of Vodacom’s expansion strategy across the continent, a role he held for over 7 years. Before joining Vodacom, Sainesh spent c.10 years as an Investment Banker at HSBC Bank Plc, HSBC Africa and Rothschild, where his primary focus was advising MNOs on their African expansion and related strategies.
General Counsel and Company Secretary
Paul Barrett joined Helios Towers plc as General Counsel and Company Secretary in April 2020. Prior to joining the Group, Mr. Barrett was Director of Legal and Company Secretary at RAC Motoring Services, a position which he assumed in July 2018. Before this, Mr. Barrett held interim positions as General Counsel of Helios Towers, Ltd. and Legal Director at Prudential plc. From 2006 until February 2017, Mr. Barrett was Head of Legal Affairs at Home Retail Group plc, the then parent company of Argos and Homebase and the UK's largest non-food retailer, where he played a key role in the sale of Homebase and the takeover of the remaining group by J Sainsbury plc. Mr. Barrett qualified as a barrister before moving into industry and has extensive senior management and board level experience, domestically and internationally, in both listed and private companies.
Director of Sustainability and Organisational Development
Nicholas Summers has been Director of Sustainability and Organizational Development since January 2019 and a member of the Executive Team since 2015, when he was appointed Director of Corporate Services. Mr. Summers joined in 2010 after spending nine years with Vodafone both in the United Kingdom and abroad. His final role at Vodafone Group Plc was National Head of RAN Deployment for Vodafone Ghana (previously state-owned Ghana Telecom). Mr. Summers is the head of the London office. He is responsible for the Group’s HSE and Quality programs, for the oversight of the Compliance function, for developing and implementing the Group’s sustainability strategy and for the management of Group Human Resources.
Leon-Paul Manya Okitanyenda
Group Technical Advisor: New Markets
Leon-Paul Manya Okitanyenda has been the Group Technical Advisor for New Markets since August 2020. Previously, Leon-Paul held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Helios Towers DRC since January 2015, and was previously appointed Network Operations Director in February 2011. He has over 18 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining in 2011, Mr. Manya Okitanyenda worked as a Sales Supervisor for Oasis SA (now Tigo), Contract Execution Manager at Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson and Project Supervisor for MER Group. Before MER Group, he was Operations Manager for Venture and Logistics Manager at Plessey Company plc. Mr. Manya Okitanyenda holds a master’s degree in Economics Mathematics and is a citizen of DRC.
Director of Commercial
Jeffrey Schumacher has been the Director of Commercial since August 2020, a role which focuses on Commercial and Business Development opportunities across the continent. Mr. Schumacher previously held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Helios Towers Ghana since 2015, Chief Executive Officer of HTSA since 2019 and Group Commercial Officer since July 2020. Mr. Schumacher joined in 2011 and has held senior positions during our set-up, launch and growth phases, including as Chief Executive Officer of HT Congo, Managing Director of Chad and Chief Commercial Officer of Helios Towers DRC. Prior to joining, Mr. Schumacher was an Investment Professional at Soros Fund Management where he was actively involved with Helios Towers since its formation in 2009. Mr. Schumacher holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering (magna cum laude) from Northwestern University in the United States.
Director of Delivery
Neil Conquest has been Director of Delivery since August 2020. Mr. Conquest previously held the position of Group Head of Projects and Operations since January 2019, prior to which he held roles as Group Head of Business Excellence, since September 2017, and Head of Operations and Maintenance for HTT in February 2016. Mr. Conquest joined Helios Towers as a full-time accredited Lean Six Sigma Black Belt based in HTT in 2015. Prior to joining Helios, Neil studied a fulltime MSc in Project Management. Before this he worked for Aggreko for 10 years, starting as an engineer before holding several senior operational positions and delivering projects throughout Africa and the Middle East. Mr. Conquest received Orange Belt training and then Black Belt training at Ohio State University.
Director of Special Projects
Colin Gaston joined in October 2015 and has been Director of Special Projects since January 2019. Previously, Mr. Gaston held several senior positions at Aggreko plc from 2000 to 2013, including Operations Director for the International Business, Regional Director for West and Central Africa and Head of Logistics. He later worked as an independent consultant in Dubai from 2013 to 2015. Mr. Gaston has 20 years of international experience in senior management roles in Schlumberger Limited and is an accredited Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
Director of Technology
Roy Cursley has been Director of Technology since August 2020, and previously held the position of Director of Technology and Delivery since February 2019, having been and a member of the Executive Team since joining in October 2015. Prior to joining, Mr. Cursley was Head of Projects, Planning & Continuous Improvement at Aggreko plc, where he was responsible for the execution of temporary power projects, primarily in emerging markets. He delivered projects in 14 countries in Africa. Mr. Cursley has a wealth of experience in South Africa and the East Africa region and is an accredited Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
Group IT Director
Craig James joined Helios Towers in October 2019, having previously been Head of IT at Ophir Energy, an African and Asian focused oil and gas exploration and production company. Craig has 25 years’ experience in the field of Information Technology: he started his career at Barclays, has experience in the Telecoms sector and previously held roles as Global IT Architect and Head of IT (Asia Pacific) at a FTSE 100 multinational mining organisation. Craig also has consulting experience with BP, AWE and Credit Suisse. Craig holds numerous IT industry qualifications and has over 15 years’ experience working across Africa.
MD Helios Towers Tanzania
Ramsey Koola has been the Managing Director of HTT Infraco since May 2019. Mr. Koola joined Helios Towers in 2015 as head of NOC, later taking on the role of Group Head of NOC, in which he delivered technology upgrades and process improvements across the business. Prior to Helios Towers, Mr. Koola was a Technical Support Manager with Siemens Telecommunications (Pty) Ltd and CELLC (Pty) in South Africa and has over 20 years’ experience in the African telecommunications industry. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a citizen of Tanzania.
MD Helios Towers Ghana
Fritz Dzeklo has been Managing Director of Helios Towers Ghana since July 2019. Mr. Dzeklo has worked with us since October 2012 and has held various other senior roles, including Project Director for HTT Infraco and Head of Projects for Helios Towers Ghana. In these roles, he was responsible for key structural and revenue projects deliveries across Tanzania and Ghana. Prior to Helios Towers Ghana, he was at Vodafone Ghana. He has experience in East Africa and West Africa, is a citizen of Ghana and is a certified Lean Six Sigma professional.
Colard Nkole Tshiyoyo
MD Helios Towers Congo Brazzaville
Colard Nkole Tshiyoyo has been the Managing Director of Helios Towers Congo since January 2020. Since joining the Group in 2011, Colard has undertaken many roles including Project Manager, Project Director and Head of Performance Engineering. Colard is a Civil Engineer from the University of Kinshasa and, since 2009, has been a Professor Assistant in the Civil Engineering department at the university and a certified Project Manager since 2016. He has 14 years’ experience in the telecom industry and before joining Helios, Colard was working for Airtel as the Site Supervisor in 2004 and then Project Supervisor in 2006. Colard is a Congolese (DRC) citizen.
MD Helios Towers South Africa
Marinus Gieselbach has been the Managing Director of Helios Towers South Africa since June 2020. Mr. Gieselbach joined Helios Towers South Africa as the Operations Director in 2019. Prior to joining Helios Towers, Mr. Gieselbach held executive positions in operations, commercial and finance with Vulatel, Dimension Data Advanced Infrastructure and Plessey. During this time he delivered various tower, fibre and data centre projects in 12 African countries over a period of 14 years. Mr. Gieselbach holds a Bachelors of Commerce and Honours degree in financial management from the University of Pretoria. He is a citizen of South Africa.
MD Helios Towers Senegal
Karim Ndiaye joined Helios Towers as Managing Director for Senegal in March 2021, launching operations in our sixth market. Prior to joining the Company, Mr Ndiaye held the role of Regional Asset Management Director for the Meridiam Investment Africa Fund, an infrastructure investment fund. In this role, Mr Ndiaye supported the fund in the opening of their Dakar office and was responsible for the management of several large infrastructure projects across West and Central Africa in sectors including Renewable Energy and Transport & Logistics. Mr Ndiaye is an accredited Lean Six Sigma Orange Belt with over 16 years of international experience in senior management roles in companies including Man Energy Solutions, Aggreko and Ericsson, delivering power projects across Sub-Saharan Africa. Mr Ndiaye is a Senegalese national.
